Lakers capture 15th NBA Title with 99-86 win over Magic...
Kobe Bryant led the Los Angeles Lakers to their 15th NBA Title by knocking off the Orlando Magic 99-86 in Game 5 of the Finals. Kobe lead all scorers with 30 points to go along with his 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks, and 2 steals in winning his 4th NBA title, his first without Shaq. Pau Gasol added another double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds in winning his first NBA Title. Phil Jackson won his 10th NBA title passing Red Auerbach as the coach with most NBA titles. Lamar Odom put in another great effort off the bench with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Game 4 hero Derek Fisher scored 14 points and Trevor Ariza had 15 points for the Lakers. The Magic got an all around effort from their team but they were not shooting anywhere like they did against the Cavaliers or like in Game 3 finishing this game shooting only 41%. Dwight Howard scored only 11 points on 5-9 shooting, Rashard Lewis scored 18 but shot 6-19 and a terrible 3-12 from beyond the arc. Hedu Turkoglu and Rafer Alston scored 12 a piece but they provided little leadership or accurate shooting. I figured the Lakers would win by 15, they won by 13 so I was close. The Magic were over whelmed before they even started the series with Kobe Bryant doing everything he could to not be denied for a third time. Orlando lives and dies by the 3 point shot and those teams rise and fall very quickly which is exactly what happened to this team, they rose quick knocking off the Celtics and then the Cavs but faded fast being outplayed in every game even the one they won. Kobe was named the Finals MVP. I'm glad they got it out of the way so n ow other teams can start winning the Title and so the NBA can share the wealth.
