Former NFL QB Steve McNair found shot to death...

Former Tennessee Titan and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Steve McNair was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest in his condo in Nashville. I'm not going to get into the specifics of the situation because there is still more to come but you can read the story here.

Steve McNair was a three time Pro Bowler and was also named the 2003 NFL MVP. He is most famously known for leading to Titans to Super Bowl 34 against the St. Louis Rams. The Rams had a 16-0 halftime lead before McNair lead the team to within 3 points of the lead 16-13. The Rams scored again but McNair would not be deterred as he set the team up for a field goal to make the score 23-16. Trailing by 7 McNair went to work on the final drive to try to tie the game up but despite accounting for all 48 yards on the drive the Titans came up a yard short of sending the game into overtime ending with one of the most exciting finishes in Super Bowl history. Throughout his career Steve played with numerous injuries including a stretch at the end of his time with Tennessee where he didn't practice but started and won the last 5 games of the regular season putting the Titans into the playoffs.
McNair on the football field was an unbelievable competitor who was respected by teammates, opponents, and fans no matter who you rooted for. As a Steelers fan I always hated playing the Titans because of McNair, he was so hard to bring down and he was such an accurate passer. Steve McNair was the original Big Ben, he was the hardest QB to tackle and his mobility stretched plays longer than they should have been but he created enough to put his teams in a position to win. He owned the Steelers both as a Titan, I was glad they were shifted to the AFC South when the divisions were broken up, and also later as a Raven, man was I upset when he was traded there, but that was out the respect I had for him as a player. As a Raven McNair was 3-1 against the Steelers, since they let him go they have gone 0-3. During Steve's career he finished with a 12-5 record against the Steelers. Steve McNair will definitely be missed on the football field and he was one of the last tough physical quarterbacks to play in the NFL.
