Roethlisberger faces civil suit accusing him of sexual assualt...
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is being sued in a civil suit by a girl in Nevada claiming he sexually assaulted her in 2008. I'm a huge Steelers fan and this makes me really mad/sad that Ben would put himself in a situation like this, he may not have done anything but he still put himself in a position to be taken advantage of my this girl and adds a distraction for the team heading into training camp. The accuser has a nice well thought out story but when the situation in question happened over a year ago you have enough time to corroborate a story and can make sure there are very little loop holes. A few of the questionable elements in her story is that she told him she was not taking any birth control(who tells that to someone who is raping you?), why didn't she make maintenance check out his room instead of doing it herself, and finally her lawyer said going to management is the equivalent to going to the police in Nevada(that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, it's absolutely ludicrous to say that it is well known that you don't go to the police if you've already talked to management). In this day and age I would not put it pass Big Ben to do something like this(players now a days have everything handed to them and they feel entitled to everything/anyone in their world) but I've met him briefly and he seemed like a cool guy and he always seems like a humble down-to-earth guy both when I met him and also during interviews. In my opinion Ben had sex with this girl and now she thinks she can get something from him. The timing of the suit is skeptical with her filing after the Super Bowl and just before the start of training camp(probably hoping to make a distraction for him and the team) and oh yeah it was a year after the incident in question took place. Big Ben has released a statement through his lawyer and they are denying the allegations and saying he will cooperate with any investigation if it gets that far. I'm waiting for more of this story to come out because the whole thing seems fishy and very similar to the Kobe Bryant case from a few years ago. It's also interesting to note that the greatest sporting news organization has not covered the story in any capacity(there are even rumors that the higher ups told the anchors to not cover it) but I guess when you create the stories you cover there is very little room to report on what is actually going on, plus why would they want to bump Brett Favre from the headlines?
