The eighth ranked Cincinnati Bearcats(6-0) survived losing their star quarterback to knock off the upstart #21 South Florida Bulls(5-1) 34-17.
The Bearcats took an early 3-0 but the Bulls responded and took the lead off of a 28-yard B.J. Daniels touchdown pass to Jessie Hester making the score 7-3.
In the second quarter Tony Pike got the Bearcat offense rolling throwing for 2 touchdowns both to Armon Binns(2 and 8 yards respectively) and Cincinnati had a 17-7 lead. Just before the half the Bulls would hit a field goal just as time expired to make the score 17-10.
Tony Pike would injure his left wrist and not return to the game but the Cincinnati offense did not miss a beat with back up Zach Collaros in the game. Three plays after Pike went down Collaros took a QB keeper, squeezed between the middle of the defense, and took off 75-yards for a touchdown and a 24-10 lead. B.J. Daniels would score from 1-yard out for the Bulls to bring them closer at 24-17 but that's as close as it would get.
In the fourth quarter Collaros would lead the Bearcats on another scoring drive that was capped off once again by him as he ran the ball into the end zone from 2-yards out. Cincinnati would kick a field goal to round out the scoring making the final score 34-17.
