Phillies topple Dodgers in Game 1 of NLCS....

In Game 1 of the National League Championship series the Philadelphia Phillies bested the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-6 in L.A.

The Phillies used their power bats on the road and Brad Lidge appears to be a competent closer again as he picked up his third straight save. Carlos Ruiz hit a three run homer in the fifth that sparked the Phils to a 3-1 lead and later in the same inning Ryan Howard doubled knocking in two more runs for a 5-1 lead. The Dodgers tried rallying late but ultimately came up short losing to a score of 8-6. Game 2 is this afternoon at 4 in L.A.
Phillies lead best of 7 series 1-0
