Playoff weekend in review....

On Friday the New York Yankees grabbed a hold of the American League Championship Series from the Los Angeles Angels by winning Game 1 with a score of 4-1. The usual choker in October C.C. Sabathia pitched a strong game going eight innings giving up the lone run and striking out seven. Then on Saturday in Game 2 the Yankees got all they could handle from the Angels winning 4-3 in 13 innings. ARoid Alex Rodriguez continued his clutch play hitting home run on an 0-2 pitch in the bottom of the 11th inning to tie the game once again for the Yankees and Melky Cabrera knocked in Jerry Hairston Jr. for the game winning run in the bottom of the 13th inning. Game 3 is this afternoon in Los Angeles.

On Friday the Los Angeles Dodgers evened the National League Championship Series by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1. Ryan Howard hit a homer in the fourth inning but that would be all they would muster in the game. The usually reliable Chase Utley committed an error in the eighth inning that resulted in the game tying score and then Ryan Madson walked in the game winning run. On Sunday night though the Phils would get their revenge in a big way by absolutely embarrassing the Dodgers 11-0. Cliff Lee pitched a beauty of a game going eight innings striking out 10 batters and only giving up three hits. Ryan Howard hit a triple in the first inning that knocked in Shane Victorino and Chase Utley which would ultimately prove to be the winning runs. Game 4 is tonight in Philadelphia.
